Preparation And Properties Of Acids
Acids:
Substances with sour taste and changing blue litmus to red are called acids. The term acid has been derived from Latin word acidus, which means sour in Latin. Basing on origin, these classified as organic acids and inorganic acids.
Organic acids:
The acids obtained from the plants or the animals is called organic acids.
i) Acetic acid: vinegar contains acetic acid.
ii) Ascorbic acid (vitamin C): Lemons contains large number of ascorbic acid.
iii)Citric acid: Citrus fruits contains citric acid.
iv)Maleic acid: Grapes and unriped apples.
v)Oxalic acid: Tomatos, beet leaves.
vi)Tartaric acid: Tamarind & Grapes
vii)Lactic acid: Curd and sour milk
viii)Formic acid: Part of sweat and urine, stings of wasps, bees, red ants and nettles.
ix) Uric acid is a part of urine acid Amino acids are present in proteins.
Inorganic acid:
The acids which are obtained from the minerals present in earth, are called inorganic acids. And also called as minerals acids.
i) Hydrochloric acid \((HCL)\) ii) Nitric acid \((HN{O_3})\)
iii) Phosphoric acid \(({H_3}P{O_4})\) iv) Sulphuric acid \(({H_2}S{O_4})\)
